Wroclaw
Wroclaw is the fourth largest city in Poland and besides being a stunning city to visit, it is also the major industrial, commercial and educational centre for the region. It has a lively student population and the university is well worth a visit as well as Rynek the stunning market square.
Wroclaw is ideally located on the Odra River, with its 12 islands, 130 bridges and riverside parks. It has many idyllic spots to stop and enjoy as well as the gorgeous Cathedral island which is a real treat for lovers of Gothic architecture.
Rynek the market square is a magnificent place to spend a lot of time in and around. Very typical of many European cities the architecture is stunning owing to its absorption of Bohemian, Austrian and Prussian influences. You can enjoy a Polish beer and bask in the sun. Spiz is a great place to visit in Rynek. One of the first Polish micro-breweries offering delicious, fresh and unpasteurized bronze beers. The interior is rustic with decor depicting the past of Wroclaw.
Wroclaw University is situated near the centre of the city. The university has some incredible history and has produced many people of distinction. It still functions as a proper university whilst also being a major tourist attraction. Most visitors take photos of Aula Leopoldina, the grand Baroque ceremonial hall. You can also check out some of the university rooms. The university is a very important part of Wroclaw and is integral to the city having a lively student vibe and thus a great nightlife as well.
There are numerous other activities to do in Wroclaw which include visiting the Botanical gardens. Maintained by the Faculty of Biological Sciences, the garden has 11,500 plants in 7.5 hectares. It features a diversity of climate zones and environments including tropical, subtropical, underwater, alpine, wetland and rocky. It is a stunning place to visit and walk around on a nice day.
In essence Wroclaw is a haven for those who like to just take a stroll and enjoy the beauty of this city. You can then stop off and enjoy one of the beer houses or eat some Polish delicacies. Much of the city is easily accessible and with a bustling nightlife it is also a great place for those who like an evening stroll as well.
