Starting off with the Ribeira District, this is the oldest part of the city set on a hill, lined with cobbled streets and the oldest houses still standing in the city today. It is full of charm and character and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can spend a whole day here, cruising through the streets, taking in the sites, venturing into the many cafes, restaurants and shops dotted along the way.  

Porto is famous for its Port Wine and the various Port Lodges offer tours explaining the traditional methods of production and ageing in casks that are kept in cellars known as caves along the Douro River. You also get to sample some of these delicious vintage ports.
