Edinburgh is a fantastic city to visit with a vast range of things on offer. It hosts various festivals including the world renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival which runs in August.

Voted the 'most liveable city in the world' in 2018 according to research by Global Research Consultancy Arcadis, it has world class fine dining including four Michelin star restaurants. Vibrant nightlife, varied art scenes and relaxing spas. It is also teeming with history and you can enjoy walking around and viewing the classical architecture of the Old and New Town. Both the Old and New Town of Edinburgh are UNESCO world heritage site.  

  If you’re looking for outdoor type activities then there is plenty on offer. You could walk up Arthur’s Seat, an old volcano which is situated next to Holyrood Palace  and the modern Scottish Parliament. The views from the top of Arthur’s Seat are breathtaking and offers a 360 panorama of the city's skyline.

 

The Royal Botanic Gardens is great for gardening enthusiasts, nature lovers and families alike. It is located next to Inverleith Park in Inverleith, which has a lovely duck pond and views of Edinburgh’s landscape. All of this is situated a stones throw from Stockbridge which is one of Edinburgh’s most desirable areas. Great for the Stockbridge Sunday Market, charity shops, bars and restaurants. Plenty on offer all within easy walking distance.

 

Dominating the city skyline is Edinburgh Castle. This is a hugely popular tourist destination with a fascinating history to discover. There is much to explore so be sure to take a guided tour or hire an audio guide. Make sure you see the Crown Jewels and The Stone of Destiny. There are many other historical monuments and buildings to explore in Edinburgh including Scotts Monument, National Monument of Scotland, Greyfriars Bobby and so much more.  

Edinburgh is also great for shopping with Jenners a famous department store based on Princes Street just a short walk from Waverley train station. The centre of Edinburgh is a great place to go on foot and just walk around and explore. Many bespoke boutique and vintage shops are dotted across the city, be sure to visit Victoria Street, Cockburn Street, the Grass Market and St.Stephen Street to discover boutiques and vintage shops.There are great places to eat. There are several top class eateries on St Andrews Square, including Dishoom, The Ivy on the Square and The Refinery.

A gorgeous city steeped in history with the added bonus of fine dining and shopping. Edinburgh is a great place to visit.
