Probably the most famous attraction and a must see as a tourist in Copenhagen is Tivoli Gardens. The Tivoli amusement park and pleasure gardens date back from 1843 and are the inspiration for the Disney theme parks. In a country famous for fairytales it is no wonder they have this unique park. Here you have access to over 20 attractions including a roller coaster, halls of mirrors, puppet shows, restaurants and so much more. This is an ideal attraction if you are travelling with children. 

Christiansborg Palace which is situated on the tiny island of Slotsholmen is worth a visit given its history and importance to the country. The palace is home to the Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court. Several parts are still used by the Royal House today. It has over 800 years of history and much of it is still open to the public. 

Nyhavn (New Harbour) is a must see if you are in Copenhagen. This harbour has so much history and its bright colourful architecture and bars and restaurants will keep you busy. Nyhavn appears in many postcards and is very picturesque. It used to be quite a disreputable part of the city but has since been cleaned up. There is a large anchor at the end of the harbour which serves as a memorial to the sailors who lost their lives in World War II. 

A visit to Copenhagen would not be complete without checking out some of the amazing restaurants this city has to offer. Whether you are looking at quality budget, mid range or high end eateries. Copenhagen has them all. You could try Gasoline Grill for great burgers, Höst for Nordic cuisine or Gemyse for fantastic vegetarian cooking as well as many others. 

Copenhagen is a beautiful city with plenty to do as well as having plenty of restaurants to enjoy. It is no wonder it was voted number 1 city for best in travel.
